Summary
Kimberly Rochelle from 90 Day Fianc?: The Other Way told her parents she isn’t eager to marry Tejaswi Goswami, aka TJ, anymore. The 30-year-old Alabama resident has had a tumultuous relationship journey with her 33-year-old Indian partner. While Kimberly worked out some differences with her beau, she couldn’t impress her partner’s family or adapt to his culture. In a previous episode, the American woman started a major argument between TJ and his relatives by wearing ripped jeans during a family gathering. Her fashion sense for the occasion made TJ’s mother boil up and explode on Kimberly for her obnoxiousness.
ET provided a preview clip from the next episode of The Other Way season 5, which shows Kimberly expressing her feelings to her mom and dad. She starts by talking about how TJ’s brother has been mean to her and called her “stupid” and “trash.” She then continues to explain that her Indian partner’s family has bashed her individuality and culture because it didn’t fit their culture.
She says, “What gets me most is they want me to live with them, but they don’t want me to be me.” Kimberly then gets emotional as she admits she isn’t keen on being part of TJ’s family anymore. The 90 Day Fianc? star tearfully reveals, “It makes me feel like I’m not excited to get married.”

After Kimberly pours her heart out in front of her parents, her father encourages her with some wisdom. He understands that TJ has invested a lot of money in the wedding and the apartment, but Kimbely needs a healthy living situation before she gets married. He adds, “If we postpone it, you still have the opportunity to work things out with TJ. But if it’s not going to work, you don’t have to stay here either.” Kimberly’s dad suggests they can easily get a ticket back if she wants it.
Seeing a hopeless Kimberly cry in front of her parents was sad. However, the new 90 Day Fianc? cast member must realize she’s just as big a part of the issue as TJ’s family. Kimberly doesn’t want to embrace TJ’s culture at all. She believes it is wrong of TJ’s parents to expect her to follow Indian customs. She also thinks her in-laws want her to change, which isn’t true. Indian brides start a new life after they marry into their new families. It isn’t about changing oneself but about adding on and being responsible.
While TJ’s family isn’t wrong for wanting Kimberly to adapt to their lifestyle, they are at fault for expecting her to do it within a few weeks. Kimberly needs time to understand the nitty-gritty of the kaleidoscopic Indian culture. She needs love from her in-laws and a slow approach. Unfortunately, TJ’s family has only judged her since she arrived in India. Their rude behavior has made Kimberly belligerent toward embracing TJ’s culture. For now, it’s better if the 90 Day Fianc? couple simply postpones their wedding until they conclude what’s best for both parties.
