IndiGo is the leader when it comes to connectivity between India and the Maldives. According to the data by Cirium, it currently has 180 return flights between Male and Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Kochi.

Vistara also has a daily non-stop service to the Maldives from Mumbai and recently announced daily non-stop flights to and from Delhi starting October 1st. In all, there are more than 300 return flights between Mal? and various Indian cities this month alone.

New service to Abu Dhabi

IndiGo also recently commenced thrice-weekly flights on Monday, Thursday, and Saturday between Goa’s new airport (MOPA) and Abu Dhabi. Like much of the rest of India, demand for flights between Goa and the Middle East is on a steady increase, and IndiGo hopes to cater to just that with these new flights.

This will be North Goa’s first flight to the Middle East, whereas the old Goa airport is already connected to Dubai, Doha, Muscat, Bahrain, and Sharjah through other airlines, including Air India Express, Qatar Airways, and Oman Air, among others.

The new service to Abu Dhabi is just a fraction of what IndiGo operates out of North Goa. Unsurprisingly, it has become the most dominant player out of this airport within a year. In September, it has more than 1,100 scheduled services out of North Goa to various domestic destinations, including Delhi, Jaipur, Dehradun, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Patna, Ahmedabad, and Amritsar, among several others.
