A 30-year-old man, who got married a few months back, attacked a woman and her daughter with a knife at their residence in Mumbai’s Kurla before killing himself on Wednesday.

The police suspect that the deceased, Rahul Nishad, and the woman, were in a relationship. However, the investigators are waiting for the woman to be in a mental state where she can record her statement.

The woman and her daughter are out of danger, said the police. An FIR on charges of attempt to murder has been registered against Nishad based on the woman’s initial statement.

An officer said Wednesday, Nishad entered the Nehru Nagar residence of the woman and locked the door from inside. The accused then attacked the woman and her daughter with a knife.

The woman somehow managed to flee along with her daughter and in the meantime, Nishad stabbed himself at the woman’s residence.
