Long Beach, CA Gujurati Wedding by Balerina Films

Darlings! Today’s poetic tale of Shikha & Jigar’s souls dancing amidst kaleidoscopic hues and heartwarming melodies sets a picturesque stage for romance. Flawlessly planned and designed by Sprinkles of Love Events at the opulent Westin Long Beach. Kumba created a floral wonderland that transported guests to a world where each moment felt like an eternity of happiness. Shikha’s beauty, radiance, and elegance were amplified by the magical touch of Beauty by Lishma, highlighting her natural beauty, seamlessly blending modern elegance with traditional allure. But that was only the beginning; the intricacies of the bridal draping, sari tying, and styling were executed with such finesse and attention to detail that it left everyone breathless. The henna designs that adorned Shikha’s hands were intricate tapestries woven by the heavens, thanks to the gifted Karishma Patel. The Baraat procession was a spectacle of infectious energy and vitality, largely thanks to Dhamaka Productions, who also set the night ablaze during the reception as the DJ, ensuring that the dance floor was always full. Those indescribable glimpses of love, joy, and emotions were captured through the lens of Balerina Films, framing the day’s splendor in keepsakes that will last a lifetime. Enjoy it!

How did you meet your Groom, and when did you know he was “the one”?We met in July 2019 at our mutual friend’s home. I saw him, and for some reason, I just knew in my stomach that this person was special!! I knew I would see him at my brother’s birthday party in September, and I locked it down! Dated for 2 years, and we were engaged for 2 more! Our technical meeting/dating date is September 5th, so it is only fitting that we have our wedding on Labor Day Weekend!

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?I went to Kolkata, India, for two weeks in May with my mom. Out of the 5 events and outfits I needed to get, all I knew was that I wanted a deep red, not a cherry red, tomato red, or burgundy, but a deep bridal red. I looked at several shops and saw about 13 lenghas from which I tried only 3. When I walked into Panghat and told them what I wanted, they ran to the back and brought out the lengha of my dreams. The heavy embroidery, deep red, and simplistic but intricate design were everything I could have dreamt of. I stood up and said, “Okay, I am ready to try this on!” to which my mom said, “Thank God!”

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind? Our exit from the mandap! We didn’t have stairs going down the mandap from the front, and I didn’t want to take the side stairs, so Jigar hopped down, and then I jumped, and he carried me down. It reminded me that we are young and in love, and I hope we work hard to stay this way forever! We always call each other Jaanu so it was only fitting we walked out to OK Jaanus Title Song!

For events other than your ceremony, please tell us as much as you would like about the decor, style, dances, and all the special details. The guests really enjoyed the Sangeet event. Everything was amazing, from a live band and singer to open bars around the room to chaat stations catered by Bollywood Zaika! The decoration included a stage for the band and a singer ornamented with umbrellas, a swing for Jigar and myself, and couch areas around the dance floor. The food spread included tikka masala pizzas, pani puri shots, aloo puri tacos, lamb shiek kabob, moong daal quesadillas, and more! We had 8 incredible performances, including a Bride solo dance to Tum Tak from Ranjhanna choreographed by So You Think You Can Dance choreographer Nakul Dev Mahajan. The party was non-stop, and it was most definitely a sangeet unlike we’ve ever seen before!

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?I think a lot of brides get caught up in the social media of it all. “Oh, I saw this on TikTok. I saw this on Instagram. But she had this and that…” If you are happy and excited about your events, then that energy will carry through to your guests. I also didn’t have these elaborate ideas or expectations and honestly wanted my events to be more traditional in decor and timeless. I was seeing everything the day of, and I think it really helped because I was genuinely so appreciative and just overwhelmed with love. If I had brushed through details, there’s a level of expectation that becomes unattainable, and I think that’s why brides get stressed!

We hope you enjoy today’s feature, darlings. Cheers to love and the endless possibilities it brings!
