The destination
After exploring many options, the Dubai-based couple zeroed in on the Hungarian city of Budapest. The reasons were many. “We’ve always wanted to visit, plus it’s not a common choice for Indian weddings,” explains the bride about the city’s novel appeal. Moreover, the architecture of the historic city served as the perfect backdrop for their various events.

While the 600 guests stayed between The Ritz-Carlton, Budapest and Four Seasons Hotel Gresham Palace Budapest, the couple was determined to host maximum functions outside of hotel ballrooms. “We wanted to show our guests the charming city of Budapest, and create an immersive experience,” says the groom.
The welcome party was at Kiosk, a Hungarian restaurant and featured a mix of local delicacies and international cuisine in a local market-inspired set-up. The sangeet at Eiffel Art Studio was imagined as a vintage train station while the wedding and reception were at the iconic Buda Castle which dates back to the 13th century. “We suggest choosing a destination where your guests don’t have many personal ties. Our crowd had very little connection to Budapest, so everyone was really there for us and we got to spend so much time with our guests,” advises Alia.
