Bheora Denied Parole For Niece’s Wedding Chandigarh News

Chandigarh: ThePunjab and Haryana high courton Monday dismissed Beant Singh assassination convict Paramjit Singh Bheora’s petition for parole to attend the wedding of his niece in Delhi.Bheora is in the Burail jail of Chandigarh, while this wedding in his family is on October 29. He had requested to be released from 6am to 2pm on that day to be able to attend the function, but the division bench of justice Vinod S Bhardwaj and justice Harsh Bunger dismissed his prayer. He had moved the high court after finding no luck with the state authorities. The orders to dismiss his plea were announced in an open court, but the detailed copy was unavailable till the filing of this report.The convict had received life imprisonment from a special CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) court in Chandigarh for the offence reported at the city’s Sector-3 police station on August 31, 1995, under the Indian Penal Code and the Explosive Substances Act . His appeal against conviction is pending before the high court. No proof to attribute ‘political motive’, HC dismisses Singh’s pleaThe Delhi High Court has dismissed a plea challenging the arrest of Aam Aadmi Party leader Sanjay Singh by the Enforcement Directorate in a money laundering case. The court stated that it cannot assume political motives without evidence. It emphasized that the reputation of the investigating agency is directly related to the country’s reputation as a fair entity. The court also highlighted that it cannot decide if a case is politically motivated without material on record. The arrest of Singh was in relation to alleged irregularities in the Delhi excise policy.
