In Uttar Pradesh, a couple celebrated their wedding along with Team India’s victory over South Africa in the ICC World Cup 2023 on Sunday, when Virat Kohli smashed a record-equalling 49th ton, on his 35th birthday.
Cricket is akin to a religion in India and the whole nation is gripped by the World Cup fever. A video posted by ANI shows the couple posing for photos with relatives on the stage. Many wedding guests are seen holding Kohli’s poster as the groom and the bride hold a tricolour in their hands. The wedding guests were seen lighting sparklers as well.

Kohli scored an unbeaten 101 runs and Shreyas Iyer made 77 as India cruised to 326-5 in 50 overs. In reply, South Africa crumbled as they were bowled out for just 83 runs in 27.1 overs. Ravindra Jadeja took five wickets and Mohammed Shami and Kuldeep Yadav bagged two wickets each. India’s last match in the group stage is against the Netherlands on November 12.
