Bride Daniya and groom Soib Siddiqui told ANI that their wedding day became extra special with Team India’s World Cup win.

Cricket fans all over the country grandly celebrated Team India’s win in the ICC World Cup match against South Africa on Sunday. While many of them took to all-night partying, a couple in Uttar Pradesh took a moment from their wedding to celebrate Rohit Sharma and Co.’s impressive win. Bride Daniya and groom Soib Siddiqui, along with their wedding guests, family, and friends held the Indian flag and pictures of star batter Virat Kohli on the wedding stage as they posed for pictures. Some of the guests also lit up sparklers in joy. This unusual merging of a wedding and a World Cup game win celebration took place in UP’s Moradabad.

While speaking to ANI, Soiab said, “It is a ‘double dhamaka’ for me as today is my wedding and India has also won today and Virat Kohli has equaled Sachin Tendulkar’s record”. Daniya added, “It feels amazing. We will remember this day forever. The happiness is double”.

On Sunday night, ANI posted a video of Soib and Daniya’s unique celebration during their wedding on X, formerly known as Twitter. The clip is now getting much love from the internet users with thousands of likes. An X user described the newlyweds as “Coupe goals”.

While resharing this clip, a person exclaimed, “Oh man this sport is really in the bloodline of Indians”. Another person wrote, “What a beautiful moment to celebrate love, success, and togetherness! Wishing Kohli and Team India many more victories to come!”

On Sunday, India won against South Africa by a staggering 243 runs. While the Indian team made 326 runs, the Proteas only managed to score 83 before they were bowled out. Virat Kohli made 101 which paved the way for India’s win. The credit also goes to the Indian bowlers who bowled out the South African team in just 27.1 overs. The match took place at Kolkata’s iconic Eden Gardens Stadium.

This is not the only instance where weddings have incorporated cricket during the celebrations. Earlier in June, a video went viral that showed a screen at a wedding venue broadcasting the IPL 2023 finals as guests gathered in front of it.

The text over the video read, “Last night cricket match, Shaadi chhod ke sab match ko hi dekhne lage (Everyone began watching the match instead of the wedding ceremony)”.
