I stopped attending Indian weddings, if I could possibly get away with doing so, some time ago. With Sikh betrothals generally lasting three days, and having 54 first cousins, I faced a clear choice in my twenties and thirties: either attend family weddings or live my life.

It’s a brilliant idea: young couples get financial help (although they don’t admit this as a motive on the website), while tourists get to experience the colour, occasional drunkenness and crushing prolixity of Indian wedding ceremonies.
