New Delhi: Four people wereinjuredafter a BMW hit a parked Ciaz insouth Delhi’sGK Enclave IIon Sunday. The four men were out for a walk after dinner when the incident took place.They were identified as Yashwant Nalwade (58), Devraj Madhukar Gargate (50), Manohar (62) and Nitin Kolhapuri.Police received information about an accident near Masjid Moth.“A team reached the spot, which was in GK Enclave II, and found that two vehicles had met with an accident. Inquiry revealed that the BMW was being driven by a woman, who hit the Ciaz parked on the roadside. The impact was so strong that the Ciaz further hit four passersby,” an officer said.A senior officer said all four were out for an evening walk after dinner. “They were taken to hospital for treatment. The medico-legal cases of all injured persons are being prepared. The woman was also taken to hospital for treatment. No one was present inside theparked car,” the officer said.Cops are scanning CCTV footage to ascertain the sequence of events. “Further inquiry in the matter is under progress. Land hurdle hits Sadar Bazar multilevel car park projectThe Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) has abandoned its proposed multilevel car parking project near Sadar Bazar post office due to unavailability of land. The project was part of the plan to decongest the busy market area, along with two other car parks. However, work on one of the car parks at Kaman Sarai could not start due to encroachment. The Sohna Chowk parking facility is under construction and expected to be completed by January 2024. The MCG will now prepare a fresh estimate for the Kaman Sarai project based on available land.
91% of those killed in road accidents in the Delhi in 2022 were menAccording to Delhi Traffic Police data, more men than women lost their lives in motor vehicle crashes in the city last year. Men accounted for 91% of the total deaths and 86% of the injuries. Road engineering issues, such as improper curvature and lack of standard speed-calming measures, were found to be major causes of the crashes. Pedestrians and motorcyclists were the most vulnerable, accounting for the majority of fatalities and injuries. The number of fatal crashes involving two-wheelers increased, with one in every three death or injury victims being a two-wheeler rider.
