A wedding celebration in Indian city of Agra turned chaotic as a dispute over the shortage of rasgullas escalated into a violent brawl, leaving six people injured, Indian media reported.

Such peculiar altercations over sweets seem to be a recurring theme at weddings, adding a unique twist to the otherwise festive atmosphere.

As per the reports, chaos erupted when a comment about the scarcity of rasgullas during a reception triggered a heated argument. The situation quickly escalated into a physical altercation, resulting in six people being hospitalised.

According to local police officer Anil Sharma, the injured are now in stable condition, and a case has been registered.

This incident is not an isolated one. Wedding brawls over rasgullas seem to be an oddly common occurrence.

In 2017, a major brawl broke out between the groom’s side and the bride’s family over being served one rasgulla instead of two.

Such incidents continued, with one in October 2022 leading to a tragic loss of life during a fight over the shortage of sweets.

Wedding scuffles over rasgullas have not escaped the lens of social media. In December 2022, a video went viral on Instagram capturing a fight breaking out on stage during the bride and groom’s rituals.

Similarly, in February 2023, a wedding reception in Indian city of Baghpat transformed into a wrestling ground over the groom’s uncle not getting his share of paneer. The incident, captured on video, gained widespread attention on social media platforms.

The chaos is not confined to guests and relatives. In a bizarre incident in December 2022, what was meant to be a sweet moment between a bride and groom turned into a scuffle.

The groom’s attempt to feed the bride sweets escalated into a fistfight, capturing the attention and reactions of social media users.
