Man shot dead allegedly by son’s father-in-law during a wedding in Gautam Buddh Nagar

A 55-year-old man was allegedly shot dead by his son’s father-in-law on Monday night during a wedding in Gautam Buddh Nagar’s Bisrakh police station area.

According to the police, the incident took place at the Gaur Mulberry Farmhouse, following an altercation between the two persons over a family dispute.

The deceased, identified as Ashok Yadav, is a resident of Hoshiarpur, Gautam Buddha Nagar.

The accused, who allegedly shot Yadav using a revolver, has been identified as Shekhar, who is originally from Hapur and currently residing in Ghaziabad.

Police said that the family took the victim to the nearest Yatharth Hospital, where the doctors declared him dead.

“Both of them are relatives, the accused’s daughter was married to the deceased’s son and there is a dispute going on between the two regarding divorce. The accused Shekhar has a licensed revolver. An FIR has been registered against Shekhar and his family members. I have formed four teams to arrest the accused, police is conducting raids at their places. Some suspects have been taken into custody, eye-witnesses such as waiters, guests are being questioned,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central Noida) Suniti said.

“Ashok Yadav had come to attend the wedding of his friend, Vinod Yadav’s daughter. Shekhar was also present there. There was an altercation between both of them most probably related to the divorce. The accused’s daughter and deceased’s son were married around two years ago,” said another official.

An FIR under relevant IPC sections, including murder, has been registered against eight persons including Shekhar. Police is checking footage of the wedding to identify the other accused, if any.
