Actors Randeep Hooda and Lin Laishram tied the knot in a traditional Meitei wedding on Wednesday.
Videos of Randeep’s procession with the band and baraatis surfaced on social media platforms, capturing the celebrations. News agency ANI shared a clip, noting, “Actors Randeep Hooda and Lin Laishram are tying the knot in Imphal, Manipur today. Visuals from the venue as rituals continue.”
Visuals from Chumthang Shannapung resort in Imphal where the wedding rituals took place also surfaced on X. In the video, Randeep is seen doing puja at the ceremony.
Bride Lin Laishram looked resplendent in a customary Manipuri bridal attire, donning the Potloi, also called Polloi, which is a cylindrical skirt made from sturdy fabric and bamboo. She was accompanied by her family members. Take a look:
In another video, Lin is seen performing traditional rituals as she smiled at Randeep during the ceremony. The couple’s friends and family members are also seen congratulating them at the ceremony.
Earlier, Randeep Hooda spoke about getting married to Lin Laishram by following Manipuri tradition. He told ANI, “It feels very good. I felt that it’s only respectful to come and marry in the bride’s tradition. Though I have heard that in Meitei love marriages, the groom has to sit for a very long time. So, that’s something but I am looking forward to the ceremony and traditions. I want to experience my life partner’s culture. That’s why I am here.”
The actor added that he has only two wishes while embarking on a whole new phase of life – lots of kids and abundance. He said, “We have been talking about Manipuri culture for a long time. I am praying for a happy future filled with lots of kids and abundance. I love that we’re taking our friendship forward and becoming family.”
Randeep also shared details of how Lin and he met. “We have been friends for a very long time. We’ve had a great friendship since we met,” he said. “We met at Naseeruddin Shah’s theatre group called Motley. He was my senior there,” Lin added.
