‘Wedding.Con’: Prime Video India Unveils True Crime Series About Women Deceived In Pursuit Of Love

Prime Video India has unveiled Wedding.con, a true-crime docu-series about women who are deceived and betrayed in pursuit of love. Scroll down for a trailer for the show that launches next week.

The haunting series intimately follows the stories of five women as they embark on the journey to fulfil their dream of a happy marriage. However, their search for the perfect life partner takes a distressing turn as they fall victim to financial and emotional exploitation by conmen. These imposters, assuming fake identities and posing as suitable grooms on online platforms, leave the women betrayed.

BBC Studios India is producing Wedding.con and it is directed by Tanuja Chandra, who previously co-wrote the screenplay for Yash Chopra’s Dil To Pagal Hai as well as directing Dushman and Sangharsh. The show has shades of Netflix smash The Tinder Swindler, while Netflix also makes Indian Matchmaking about young Indian people looking for love.

“Time and again, Prime Video stands firm in its commitment to champion and authentically represent women, both on screen and off screen,” said Aparna Purohit, head of Originals, India and Southeast Asia, Prime Video. “Whether through storytelling from a woman’s perspective, narratives focused on women’s experiences, or the portrayal of strong and impactful female characters, our content reflects a dedicated effort to empower and celebrate the diverse voices of women.”
