Who are Anjali and Sufi? Here’s all about the India-Pak same-sex couple who split weeks ahead of wedding

If you are an avid social media user, you might be familiar with the names Anjali Chakra and Sufi Malik. The Pakistani and Indian social media influencers have now decided to split ways just weeks before their wedding.

Chakra and Malik took to their respective Instagram handles to announce their split due to “infidelity committed by Sufi”. In a lengthy post, Malik revealed that she cheated on Chakra weeks before her wedding. “I made an unrecognizable mistake of betrayal by cheating on her a few weeks before our wedding. I’ve hurt her tremendously, beyond my own understanding. I’m owning up to my mistake and will continue to do so.”

Chakra also penned a note, updating her followers about her personal life. She wrote, “This may come as a shock, but our journey is now shifting. We have decided to call off our wedding and end our relationship due to infidelity committed by Sufi.”

In 2019, the two US-based influencers gained widespread popularity on the internet by sharing videos and photos of themselves wearing traditional South Asian outfits and dancing in the rain. Chakra, from India, and Malik, from Pakistan, had been in a relationship for over five years. They made their engagement public with a heartfelt proposal video filmed at New York’s iconic Empire State Building, where Malik got down on one knee and proposed to Chakra.

Celebrating three months of their engagement, Chakra had shared a series of photos and penned a note on her Instagram. “3 months as fiancées and we’ve finally started all the calls to pick out vendors for our wedding if you have a vendor you absolutely loved tag them in the comments, I want to check them out!!”

The former couple also run a YouTube channel, Sufi and Anjali, which has over 1.36 lakh subscribers.
