And just when we thought we had seen it all, an IPL-themed Indian wedding has created a storm on the internet for its creativity and charm. Shared on Instagram, the unique wedding is the perfect example of the T20 tournament’s craze in the country. Adding to the cricket theme, the wedding’s invitation card resembled an official match ticket. It even had a ‘Match Preview’ section that read, “They are prepared for the inaugural game. Wish it will be a beautiful start”.
The ‘Match Prediction’ section stated, “Made for each other”. The post was jointly shared by two Chennai Super Kings fan pages who wrote, “A creative invitation, super wedding and an awesome match, here is wishing Giftleen Persi and Martin Robert a fantastic partnership ahead”.
The couple also shared a snapshot of themselves posing with a trophy-like structure during the wedding ceremony. The trophy featured cutouts of the husband and wife pasted alongside the emblem of the Chennai Super Kings. The post has now received over 85,000 likes on Instagram.
The creativity of the whole wedding ceremony even attracted the attention of StarSportsIndia who wrote, “May your ‘Jodi’ be as strong as your favourite fandom! Stay tuned and we might feature you on Star Sports Network & our IG handle!”
Several other reactions poured in from other netizens, with one of them pointing towards the five stars on the invitation, representing the club’s IPL trophies. “That’s 5 ‘yellow star emoji’ at the left of the invitation,” she wrote.
Another user congratulated the couple on the wedding as he wrote, “More whistles for the beautiful partnership and innings to follow. In one reply, a user made a hilarious joke by saying, “I hope they didn’t sell their invitations outside in black.” Another netizen added, “May your partnership hit 100”.
The Chennai Super Kings, who appear to be the favourites of the couple, are one of the most successful franchises in IPL history. The Whistle Podu squad has won the ultimate prize five times while making the final of the tournament on 10 occasions. Apart from their success in the tournament, Chennai also enjoys a loyal fanbase across the country. Hence, it shouldn’t be surprising to see such passion for them.
As for their ongoing season, the Chennai Super Kings are currently in third place on the IPL table with four wins in six games. They have won their previous two matches against the Kolkata Knight Riders and the Mumbai Indians. They are set to play the Lucknow SuperGiants next. The match will take place today, April 19, at the Ekana Sports City Stadium.
