CRPF jawans perform wedding rituals for slain soldier’s daughter in Rajasthan, photo goes viral

In a heart-touching wedding ceremony, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawans performed the wedding rituals for the daughter of a slain soldier in Rajasthan’s Alwar. Photos from the wedding were shared by an Instagram page that goes by the name of Indian Military Updates.

The caption to the post identified the bride as Sarika Meena, daughter of late CRPF Constable Rakesh Kumar Meena. The ceremony was held at late Meena’s residence in Dubi village.

Meena, belonging to the 168 Battalion of the force, was martyred while fighting Naxals in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur in 2010. The viral photo shows the CRPF jawans, in uniform, walking holding a bridal veil, moving towards the stage.

Sharing the photo, the Instagram handle wrote, “CRPF Personnel Attended The Wedding Ceremony Of Sarika Meena, Daughter Of Shaheed CRPF Constable Rakesh Kumar Meena, At His Residence In Dubi Village, Alwar District, Rajasthan. A similar incident took place in December 2021. Then, CRPF officers were seen carrying a bridal veil over the bride—a right reserved for brothers—she walked towards the mandap. The jawans turned brothers to the daughter of their slain colleague Constable Shailendra Pratap Singh. He was martyred while fighting terrorists in Kashmir’s Pulwama. Singh was posted in the 110th battalion of the force.
