Weddings in India have evolved significantly over the years. What used to be a relatively straightforward affair, marked by customary rituals, has transformed into grand celebrations featuring elaborate events and performances. Historically, the baraatis were the only ones to dance during the wedding procession, while the bride and groom typically observed from the sidelines. However, today’s weddings often showcase the couple themselves participating in vibrant performances, adding a unique touch to their special day.

A recent viral video on Instagram perfectly illustrates this shift. In the clip, a groom is seen dancing energetically on the street during his wedding, dressed in a deep blue blazer, white shirt, and traditional safa, with a garland around his neck. His bride, dressed in a red bridal ensemble, stands by, smiling but not joining in. Despite encouragement from the crowd to join her groom, the bride remains reserved.

The video, which has amassed 1.6 million views, has sparked a range of reactions. One user commented, “Maut aa jaye lekin esa confidence na aaye” (I will die but never be able to muster up so much confidence). Another added, “Naach ye rahe hai aur sharam mujhe aa rhi hai” (He is dancing, but I am feeling embarrassed). The groom’s bold display of confidence has clearly resonated with many, with some expressing admiration for his fearless approach.

The Instagram account that shared this video also posted additional clips from the wedding, including one where the bride and groom exchange garlands amid celebratory music, further highlighting the festive spirit of modern Indian weddings.
