Aditi Rao Hydari and Siddharth tied the knot in a beautiful South Indian wedding ceremony on Monday, September 16. The couple shared their wedding photos on Instagram, showcasing their elegant South Indian ethnic attire. The intimate ceremony took place at a 400-year-old temple in Wanaparthy, which holds significance for Aditi’s family, according to Vogue India. For those who don’t know, Aditi comes from the long line of the Nizam of Hyderabad.

The bride looked stunning in a custom Sabyasachi handwoven Maheshwari tissue lehenga paired with a Benarasi tissue dupatta from the archives of the Sabyasachi Heritage Textile collection; accentuated with Sabyasachi Heritage Jewellery.

She completed her bridal attire with traditional gold jewellery and a gajra in her hair.

Siddharth wears a Sabyasachi silk kurta and a handwoven Benarasi dhoti with a veshti (or mundu) of his own.

The South Indian mundu is a traditional garment worn by men in the southern states of India. It’s essentially a long, rectangular piece of cloth wrapped around the waist and legs. The mundu is typically made of cotton but can also be woven from silk or other fabrics.

There are various styles of mundu, each with its unique features. Some mundus are plain, while others are adorned with intricate patterns and designs. The colour and style of the mundu can vary depending on the occasion and personal preference.

The couple’s caption read, “You are my Sun, my Moon, and all my Stars. To being Pixie Soulmates for eternity. To laughter, to never growing up. To Eternal Love, Light & Magic Mrs & Mr Adu-Siddhu (sic).”

The ceremony seemed to have been held early in the morning, a hallmark of a South Indian wedding, as captured by celebrity photographer Joseph Radhik. The sun began rising, casting a warm glow on the happy couple. Aditi and Siddharth beamed with joy as they posed for the camera.

“He got down on his knee, and I asked him, ‘Now what have you lost? Whose shoelaces are open?’ He kept saying, ‘Addu, listen to me’. And then he proposed. He said he wanted to bring me to my favourite childhood place, one with my grandmother’s blessings,” she said.
