A photo has been going viral online with the claim that a bride from Lucknow wore a Banarasi bikini on her wedding day. Read on to find out the truth behind the picture.

A picture of a woman wearing a yellow “Banarasi bikini” has gone viral on social media, with claims that she defied stereotypes by choosing the outfit for her wedding day. However, after investigating the claim, News18.com found it to be false. The image, which was circulating with the claim that it showed a bride from Lucknow, is actually AI-generated and not from a real setting.
“Lucknow bride breaks stereotype by wearing Banarasi bikini in marriage ceremony. Internet split in two halves,” reads the text on the viral picture.

The image shows a woman in a yellow bikini and a veil holding a varmala, with a groom standing in front of her wearing a sherwani. The bride is also adorned with jewellery and is wearing henna on her hands and legs.

After the post swiftly went viral online, we ran a reverse image search on the photo and it directed us to a Reddit post where it was originally posted with the caption, “Marriage season.” The post on the platform’s “DesiAdultfusion” community, has an “NSFW” tag, indicating it is explicit and suitable only for those above the age of 18.
When we went through the description of the Reddit page, we found that it posts AI-generated artwork. The description of the page reads, “DesiAdultfusion is a subreddit dedicated to showcasing AI-generated artwork related to desi culture. From traditional to contemporary, our community welcomes all forms of desi-inspired art created using artificial intelligence. Share your unique creations and explore the work of others who share your passion for all things desi.”

One user even posted the viral screenshot and wrote that people have been “misusing their AI-generated images”.
We also analyzed the image using the deepfake detection tool TrueMedia.org, which confirmed that the image was AI-generated. The platform indicated substantial evidence of image manipulation and suggested that it might have been created using tools like “Stable Diffusion, MidJourney, or DALL-E 2″.
