Weddings reimagined: A lavish affair for modern couple Patna News

Patna: For many couples, weddings are no longer just a traditional union — they have become an extravagant spectacle, a chance to leave an indelible mark on the hearts and minds of guests. Whether it is a big fat Indian wedding à la Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant, or a more intimate, celebrity-style affair, every couple dreams of their wedding day being unforgettable. The goal is to create a moment of grandeur that resonates long after the last guest has left. From thewedding attireto the venue, every detail is meticulously planned. Brides and grooms alike are investing considerable time and money to ensure they look their best on their big day, often with the help of salons and parlours. “We see a rise in male clientele during the wedding season,” said the manager of a salon on Fraser Road.”Men are just as invested in their appearance as women — they get everything done, from pedicures and manicures to hair spa treatments, polishing and even bleaching,” he added. The prices reflect this growing demand: a pedicure or manicure costs Rs 2,124 for both men and women, while hair spa services range from Rs 1,500 for men to Rs 2,500 for women. Men’s bleaching and polishing are priced between Rs 4,000 and Rs 5,000 while women’s services can go up to Rs 6,000.Meanwhile, bridal attire continues to hold its own place in wedding culture. Dheeraj, a salesman at an outlet on Boring Road, said that red remains the most popular choice among brides. The silk bridal saris are priced between Rs 10,000 and Rs 80,000. “Red is unbeatable for weddings, though we have other options in colours like maroon, sky blue and pink,” he said. The focus is not solely on the bride. Men, too, are becoming increasingly particular about their wedding attire. “Men scrutinise every detail, from the fit of their clothes to the accessories they carry. They won’t tolerate any mismatch,” said a salesman at a men’s clothing store. Whether it is a traditional silk sari or a perfectly tailored suit, weddings have evolved into a luxury experience where both parties want to shine.
