In a bizarre incident, a groom in Uttar Pradesh’s Chandauli called off his wedding over a delay in serving rotis, left the bride at the venue, and married his cousin later that day. According to reports, the incident occurred on December 22 when the groom and his relatives walked off the wedding, alleging a delay in food being served.
The incident came to light when the bride’s family sought help from the police, demanding justice. As per a report in NDTV, the bride’s family claimed that they gave Rs 1.5 lakh to the groom’s family hours before the wedding ceremony was scheduled to take place.
“I was ready since morning. The groom and his family arrived, ate, and then abused and assaulted my parents before leaving the spot. I later approached the police for justice,” NDTV quoted the bride.

The report further stated that the groom got irked when there was a slight delay in serving rotis to him, which led to teasing by his friends. He then lashed out at the bride’s family and allegedly abused them, which led to an altercation. After disappearing from the wedding venue, the groom reportedly married one of his cousins.
