Ace badminton player P V Sindhu and Venkata Datta Sai, executive director of Posidex, a data mining company, got hitched in a traditional and intimate wedding ceremony in Udaipur on December 22, 2024. With the onslaught of wedding pictures flooding our social media feeds, it is clear that Sindhu left no stone unturned in curating a fairy-tale aesthetic for her big day.
“Lost in a world of soft light and gentle shadows @dattavenkat,” Sindhu captioned a recent social media post, where she wore a custom Ambar Bagh seafoam green tissue lehenga from the House of Masaba for one of her wedding festivities. She paired the ensemble with a tissue dupatta woven with gota and foil details, studded with custom charms such as badminton racquets, shuttlecocks, gold medals, and paper airplanes—a tribute to the couple’s unique love story.

“The lehenga, laden with a myriad of trees and ‘Sehra’ motifs in dhagai and dori kaam with tissue detailing across the hem, is paired with a Kurta blouse over the ‘Son Phal’ bustier,” said designer Gupta in an Instagram post. Sindhu also opted for a custom paranda with Badminton-inspired elements and a knuckle ring shaped as her medals. Datta Sai looked regal in a custom ‘Ambar Bagh’ kurta and traditional Veshti set.

In another one of her pre-wedding looks, the badminton player served icy princess glam in a powder blue floor length Supria Munjal gown. Styled by Bornali Caldeiraa, the couturier said on social media that the ethereal flared gown featured a “strapless ruched bodice, braided waist details, and a dramatic draped train—an exquisite blend of sophistication and fantasy.” Datta Sai complemented her ensemble in a simple yet elegant blue shirt and white trouser combo.
For her wedding, Sindhu had switched the regular lehenga for an ivory tissue sari by Manish Malhotra, styled with a multi-tiered heirloom necklace crafted in 18k gold and featuring Zambian emeralds and uncut diamonds. A bold red lehenga by Sabyasachi Mukherjee, paired with a full-sleeved blouse embellished with golden embroidery, was her choice for the varmala ceremony.
