In a case of food poisoning, close to 25 people who were returning after a wedding ceremony, including the bride and groom, were hospitalised in Gujarat’s Kheda district early on Tuesday after they fell ill. All of them were administered medicines and later discharged, said Nadiad civil hospital authorities.
The people were travelling in a luxury bus from Ahmedabad to Rajpipla in Narmada district when they reportedly showed signs of diarrhoea and vomiting and were rushed to the civil hospital.
Nitai Parekh, a member of the wedding group, said that they had all consumed the food served at the function and boarded the bus soon after.
Dr Kavita Shah, Chief District Health Officer of Kheda, said, “About nine people were administered intravenous fluids while the others who had symptoms, about 15 of them, were given oral medicines. They stayed at the hospital until morning and then requested to be discharged to continue their onward journey to Rajpipla. We discharged them as per their request once everyone had stabilised. They were affected due to food poisoning.”
