An Indian bride received a shock when her ex-boyfriend turned up at her wedding and attacked the groom onstage.
The violent incident happened in Bhilwara, which is near the Chittorgarh district in Rajasthan.
A video showed a young man standing onstage while the newlyweds were sitting.
The man presented the couple with a gift and also posed for a photo.
He then goes to the groom to shake his hand and congratulate him. But as he does so, he attacks the groom, launching a barrage of strikes.
The bride quickly tries to stop him while other guests rush onto the stage to help the injured man.
Police had been at the scene and quickly intervened.
It was revealed that the groom was attacked with a knife but only suffered minor injuries as his turban provided some protection.
The bride’s brother Vishal Sail filed a police complaint.
In the complaint, he said his sister Krishna tied the knot with Mahendra Sen on May 12, 2024.
Shankarlal Bharti presented a gift to the bride before attacking the groom.
After the attack, Shankarlal fled the scene and was accompanied by several associates who continued to be violent with those pursuing them.
According to Vishal, Shankarlal is from the same village as Krishna.
They knew each other as they were teachers at the same school.
It is reported that they were in a relationship but they split up after conflict arose.
Reports also claim that after he discovered that his ex-girlfriend was marrying someone else, he harboured resentment towards the groom.
In Vishal’s police complaint, Shankarlal attended the wedding to cause harm to his former lover’s new husband.
He presented a gift to give the impression that he had moved on from the relationship and that there was no ill-will.

After the video went viral, many called Shankarlal a “coward” for attacking the groom.
One said:
“When you cannot get a girl because of your own failure, then this is how you vent your anger. coward man.”
Another questioned: “What is the point of doing this now?”
One person likened the incident to an episode of Crime Patrol, writing:
“Crime Patrol episode Criminal and mastermind will be the bride.”
Some wondered if the attack had been orchestrated by the Indian bride, theorising that she still had feelings for Shankarlal and was getting married to a man of her family’s choice.
It was reported that the police arrested Shankarlal as well as two associates.
