You mention “bringing back India to Indian weddings”. What does that mean to Rani Pink?
For Rani Pink, it’s about creating a space where our traditions aren’t just on display—they’re alive and vibrant. Weddings once rooted in intimate craft details, have become large productions, but we’re inspired by the smaller, meaningful ceremonies and rich traditions of India, like the intricate crafts and multifaceted celebrations that create a deeper connection to our heritage.
The Mehendi is set in the Pomegranate Courtyard. What is the design story behind this setting?
The design inspiration for this gathering comes from Jaipur’s cultural inheritance of block printing. The Pomegranate Courtyard is filled with playful motifs in earthy greens and pinks with heirloom silver accents. Looking around, you’ll find yourself surrounded by a lush Indian aesthetic of whites highlighted by elements of nature. You’ll find tota, anaar and gulab scattered throughout the space, and the courtyard becomes a living celebration of love with henna art and Indian craftsmanship at its core.
Dholki night is known for its energy. How does Rani Pink capture that in its design?
The Kikli Folk or Dholki at Rani Pink embraces the high energy of folk music and family camaraderie along with lyrical teasing. We’ve recreated the traditional baithak where women gather with dholkis and spoons to sing and celebrate, surrounded by the richness of zari, gota, and brocade. The design is maximalist, with the largest chamkila canopy and décor that reflect the joy and spirit of the night. It’s all about fun and tradition coming together in full force.
What inspired the Marigold Fools or the Haldi event concept?
The Haldi morning at Rani Pink is an explosion of colour, led by the iconic marigold. The space is alive with layers of yellow and orange, accented with hot pink in every corner. The famous Phulkari of Punjab makes a special appearance, adding a pop of heritage to the colourful atmosphere. With vibrant flowers, and endless energy, the space is a joy-filled celebration of love and tradition.
