Unsurprisingly, it led to the breakdown of the wedding.
The groom, named Mahendra Raj, is a resident of the Bichhiya region in Gorakhpur. It is being reported that he was in a live-in relationship for the last 7 years with a woman from Shahpur. According to the allegations of the woman, Mahendra had tied the knot with her at a temple and was keeping her at a rented house as his wife. So, whenever she demanded the man to meet his family, he told her not to hurry. This went on for some time.
Keeping the relationship secret from his family, Mahendra quietly fixed a second marriage in the Gorakhnath area. The ritual of Tilak was carried out peacefully but on the wedding day, the truth of the groom finally came out. So, when the woman learned of his plans, she confronted Mahendra, who allegedly admitted to the marriage and threatened to kill her if she reported the matter to the authorities. The woman then decided to go to the Shapur police station and revealed everything to the officers.
Reacting swiftly to the complaint, the police conducted an investigation into the matter and registered a case against Mahendra Raj, which was followed by his arrest. After verifying the woman’s allegations, the girl’s family called off the marriage. According to the reports, the investigation is underway and more questions are being raised about Mahendra’s actions.
