Indian woman watches best friend’s wedding in Pakistan on FaceTime, shares video

An Indian woman, unable to attend her best friend’s wedding in Pakistan, watched the ceremony over FaceTime – a proprietary videotelephony product developed by Apple. A video of the bittersweet moment went viral on social media.

The clip, shared by Annaika Ahuja – a choreographer by profession – on Instagram, shows that while friendship knows no borders, visas do.

The caption of the post reads, “Bajrangi Bhaijaan, taaron ke neeche se Pakistan pohoncha do? ‘So close yet so far’ never felt more real, watching my sister become a wife while my heart sits outside my body, across the border.”

The post resonated deeply with users online as they flooded the comments section with their own experiences of being separated from loved ones.

“After making so many Indian friends in Dubai, I know I will never be a part of their very special days, and they won’t be mine. Our children will get married. We won’t be able to attend. There will be times we would like to be a part of things, but we can’t. I wish things will get better,” a user said.
