For those who might be new to the subject, within Islam, a couple has the freedom to choose their wedding date at their convenience. Nonetheless, there are specific days when proceeding with a wedding is not recommended, influenced by ahadiths (narrations of the sayings and actions of Prophet Muhammad) as well as historical and cultural considerations. One such example falls on Muharram, where there’s a prevailing belief against marrying during this month due to its observance as a time of mourning among Muslims. Similarly, tying the knot during the holy month of Ramadan has historically been considered inauspicious. However, many Muslim couples are now choosing to discard these long-held reservations, reaffirming their faith in the concept that Allah holds sway over all days.
