IndiGo has announced the resumption of its non-stop service between Hyderabad in South India and Mal? in the Maldives. The airline has the highest number of flights between the two countries, and the latest service from Hyderabad will start during the peak holiday season later this year.
IndiGo has announced that it will resume non-stop flights between Hyderabad and Mal? from October 31st. The timing of the flight resumption coincides with the peak travel season in India, which usually begins in October-November and lasts until February-March the following year.
The Maldives is extremely popular among Indian tourists, and airlines are increasingly catering to the rise in demand with more direct services. Vinay Malhotra, Head of Global Sales, IndiGo, commented,
“The introduction of these flights will not only improve accessibility but also offer travelers added flexibility and convenience. The Maldives has experienced a recent surge in travel, particularly in anticipation of upcoming holidays and long weekends. Furthermore, as the wedding season approaches, the Maldives stands out as an ideal destination, offering luxurious accommodations and romantic getaways for an unforgettable travel experience.”

IndiGo is the leader when it comes to connectivity between India and the Maldives. According to the data by Cirium, it currently has 180 return flights between Male and Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Kochi.
Vistara also has a daily non-stop service to the Maldives from Mumbai and recently announced daily non-stop flights to and from Delhi starting October 1st. In all, there are more than 300 return flights between Mal? and various Indian cities this month alone.
New service to Abu Dhabi
IndiGo also recently commenced thrice-weekly flights on Monday, Thursday, and Saturday between Goa’s new airport (MOPA) and Abu Dhabi. Like much of the rest of India, demand for flights between Goa and the Middle East is on a steady increase, and IndiGo hopes to cater to just that with these new flights.
This will be North Goa’s first flight to the Middle East, whereas the old Goa airport is already connected to Dubai, Doha, Muscat, Bahrain, and Sharjah through other airlines, including Air India Express, Qatar Airways, and Oman Air, among others.
The new service to Abu Dhabi is just a fraction of what IndiGo operates out of North Goa. Unsurprisingly, it has become the most dominant player out of this airport within a year. In September, it has more than 1,100 scheduled services out of North Goa to various domestic destinations, including Delhi, Jaipur, Dehradun, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Patna, Ahmedabad, and Amritsar, among several others.
