Sabyasachi to Tarun Tahiliani: 7 of the most exquisite bridal boutiques in India

Bridal collections are characterized by their glamour and opulence. And it is only right that the bridal boutiques that house them offer an immersive experience that complements the beauty of the collection. The interiors of the bridal boutiques not only reflect the philosophy of the designer but also provide a space that celebrates the stunning craftsmanship of Indian artisans. Here is a list of 7 bridal boutiques in India that transport you to a world of luxury and extravagance.

Sabyasachi’s Grand Mumbai Store

Sabyasachi’s Mumbai store with four floors and 25,862 square feet does not compromise an inch of his maximalist vision. The bridal collection, for which he is widely known, is displayed on the ground floor. The first floor houses the brand’s largest showcase of jewellery in the world, housing fine, heritage, and high jewellery collections while the womenswear, menswear, international collection, and Sabyasachi accessories are on the second floor

“I like to build my stores like my home, where people can come and wander,” says the designer. The space is layered with curios that he has collected over the years like Tanjore paintings, pichvais in the Deccan, rare bronzes, Canton vases and 18th-century Venetian handcrafted chairs. And not all of this is for sale. It is simply the atmosphere. “The tea served comes from Lakshmi Narayan Tea House in Calcutta. There’s cake and ginger biscuits. It’s all handmade and delicious. It’s things that I want people to enjoy. And if you want to shop, that’s incidental,” he quips. – Komal Sharma

JADE’s Maximalist Delhi Flagship

JADE by Monica and Karishma’s new flagship in Delhi consisting of two stores is opulent and wholly maximalist, yet every piece is thoughtfully included and steeped in a storied history. The flagship’s interiors were designed by Shah herself, who wove attention to detail into the very fabric of the store. She describes the store as an extension of the JADE brand— “a blend of historical charm and contemporary elegance.”

Walls clad with pattu shawls, centuries-old Prabhavali frames, and Ek Taar torans form a beautiful backdrop to JADE’s designs, all of which have been remarkably curated by Monica Shah and Karishma Swali. Instead of using traditional mannequins, Jade’s intricate ghagras are displayed using antique breastplates as silhouettes. Ultimately, JADE by Monica and Karishma’s new offerings in Delhi point to something larger. Beyond the aesthetics and the beautiful bridal couture, the store celebrates the country’s artisanal heritage. – Nuriyah Johar
