The single most expensive garment most Indian families will ever buy is sold without a published price. Neither Sabyasachi nor Manish Malhotra posts a price list, and the figures that circulate online are market observation and resale data rather than anything either house has confirmed.

WedMeGood, which tracks the Indian wedding market, put Sabyasachi bridal lehengas in the ₹5,00,000 to ₹10,00,000 range in a piece published in February, with bespoke work running above ₹10,00,000 and lighter pre-wedding or reception pieces starting near ₹3,00,000. The same piece is explicit that official price lists are not publicly posted, and that its numbers come from observed market and resale behaviour.

For Manish Malhotra, the most-cited figures are considerably older. WedMeGood put bridal lehengas from about ₹5,00,000 up to ₹13,00,000, with mehendi and sangeet pieces starting around ₹4,00,000 to ₹5,00,000, in an article dated April 2019. Seven years on, treat those as a floor rather than a current quote.

The resale market is the closest thing to a public price signal. The same tracking puts pre-loved Sabyasachi lehengas between ₹1,80,000 and ₹7,00,000 — a range that tells you more about what these garments hold than any showroom conversation will.

None of this is unusual for couture, and it is not evidence of anything improper. But it does mean a bride walking into an appointment has no reference point, at the exact moment she is least placed to negotiate. Ask for the price of the specific piece before the fitting rather than after, and ask what customisation adds: on the 2019 figures, bespoke work only began above ₹7,00,000 to ₹8,00,000, which is itself a useful thing to know before falling for something.
