Editorial Summary & Key Highlights

DrikPanchang's 2027 marriage calendar, calculated for Jaipur, contains 96 auspicious dates spread unevenly across nine months. August, September and October have none because of Chaturmas, and a separate five-week gap runs from 14 March to 18 April during Kharmas. May is the busiest month with eighteen dates, eight of them consecutive. Muhurat timings are windows rather than whole days, several are under three hours, and many cross midnight, so a list calculated for another city will not carry the same times.

DrikPanchang lists 96 auspicious marriage dates across 2027, calculated for Jaipur. They are not spread evenly. Three consecutive months have none at all, one has eighteen, and a five-week gap runs through the middle of spring.

The count, month by month

January has nine dates and February thirteen. March drops to seven, April returns to nine, and May reaches eighteen, more than any other month in the year. June has sixteen and July six. August, September and October have none. November has eleven and December seven.

The supply of auspicious days does not expand to meet demand.

About two thirds of the year's dates fall between February and June. The whole second half of the year holds 24, and eleven of those are in November.

Every date in 2027

These are the dates themselves. Each one carries its own muhurat window, and the window is what the ceremony has to fit inside, so check the timing for the specific date before committing to it.

Three months with nothing in them

August, September and October carry no marriage dates at all. This is Chaturmas, the four-month stretch Vishnu is held to sleep through, and it closes the calendar regardless of what any venue has free. There is no date to book, so there is nothing to negotiate. We have written separately about why the calendar closes from July to October.

The gap nobody plans for

March has seven dates and every one falls before the 15th. April has nine and none arrive before the 18th. Between 14 March and 18 April the list is empty.

The gap covers Kharmas, which returns when the Sun enters Pisces in mid-March and lifts when it moves into Aries a month later. It is the same mechanism that shuts the calendar between mid-December and mid-January, and it is the one couples miss most often, because the months on either side of it look open. Anyone planning a spring wedding loses about five weeks of spring.

May is the busiest month of the year

Eighteen dates in May is more than January and March put together. Eight of them fall on consecutive days, 18 to 25 May.

That concentration is the problem with peak dates. Venues, caterers and photographers work from the same list, and a date on it is wanted by everyone marrying that season. It is the arithmetic we wrote about when a handful of dates carried millions of weddings: the supply of auspicious days does not expand to meet demand.

Each date is a window

Several of the windows are narrow and some are awkward. 14 February opens at 4:46 AM and runs to 7:04 AM the next morning. 21 February gives two hours and twenty-three minutes, from 11:27 AM to 1:50 PM. 5 June gives thirty-five minutes.

Many windows also cross midnight, so the ceremony date and the muhurat date are not always the same calendar day. That matters for the card, for the venue booking and for anyone travelling to it.

Why your panchang may not agree with this one

These timings are calculated for Jaipur. A muhurat window is derived from local sunrise and the moon's position against it, so a list computed for Chennai, Kolkata or Toronto will not give the same start and end times, and occasionally will not give the same date.

Different almanacs also weight nakshatra and tithi differently. That is how two published lists end up disagreeing about the same week, which is what we found when one popular list disagreed with the rest over November 2026.

Before you print the cards

Confirm the date with the priest who will conduct the ceremony, against a panchang calculated for the city where the ceremony happens rather than the city where the family lives. Ask for the window, not just the day. Then book the venue against the window.

The acoustic sitar during midnight pheras is such an inspired touch. Finally a return to soul over decibels!

Loved the breakdown of vintage zardozi craftsmanship. True luxury takes thousands of hours.
